📑 Hub Overview

This overview gives a short introduction to the Waved Hub, and covers its purpose, its physical connections and some details about the hardware.

In-depth explanations, about the Hub's network interfaces are covered under the Network Configuration section.

Waved Hub is the heart and brain of our system, it's responsibilities includes:

  • Gathering and analysing data from the sensors.

  • Making decisions regarding volume automation.

  • Communicating with end-users.

  • and logging data.

The Hub is based on a Raspberry Pi with a Zigbee module attached, which serves as the coordinator for the Zigbee mesh network of the Waved sensors. All communication between the sensors and the Hub goes over the Zigbee network.

Waved Hub only uses an ethernet port for connecting to the internet, and in many cases to connect to digital sound systems. The USB-C port is used for power supply.

In installations where using a cabled connection to the internet is either impossible, or highly impractical, the Waved hub can also connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.
